Blossom & Balance is a blog dedicated to sharing my passion for living a conscious life through environmental awareness, a vegan lifestyle + plenty of yoga. (Go ahead & throw yo’ lulus on!) 🙂
Before I go any further, let me just take a moment to be REAL with y’all here and admit that this is the 4th blog I’ve started since 2013. (Do any of you remember TheDancingVegan? TheVeganFromCali? Let’sLiveVegan? Yep. All me.) I’ve done a hell of a whole lot of growing in the past few years, even just the past few months, to say the least. (And if any of you have followed me on Instagram from the very beginning, I sincerely apologize for the crazy amount of name changes on there. LOL. But thank ya for staying!)
When I began to blog, I gravitated towards platforms that revolved around veganism. I have been vegan for 5 years to date now and although the lifestyle change did totally save me from an eating disorder & while I will definitely be vegan for the rest of my life, I have finally come to realize that BEING VEGAN IS NOT MY ENTIRE LIFE. There, I said it. (*cue the vegan police sirens*) By focusing my previous blogs on vegan food, I sort of felt “trapped”, as if I could only share things that pertained to vegan food. That’s when the obsession began to expand into a near relapse of my previous eating disorders. Food needs to be fuel, not an obsession.
Now don’t get me wrong. I do believe that food does need to be looked as a very important part of your life, but you have got to remember that YOU consume food, it does not consume YOU. This was something I constantly had to remind myself of.
I have passions for other things besides vegan food that I would love to share with the world without feeling like it wasn’t good enough if it didn’t have to do with veganism. That’s why I started this journey.
Blossom & Balance came to life with the realization that I am constantly growing and finding new things to try, new emotions to feel, new adventures to enjoy, new responsibilities to take on…and so on. That’s part of life. No one should be “stuck” in a certain period of their life. Phases come and go, but the best thing about life is that we never, ever stop blossoming and learning how to balance the good with the bad, the physical health with the mental health, and so on. This life is a journey, and I’m so excited to finally be able to share every passion that I hold within myself through this platform, from recipes, fitness, wellness + everything in between,.
I’m beyond thankful that you’re here, in my little corner of the Internet universe.
